Sightings for Thursday January 19th

Verdun: This morning, quite by chance and without my binoculars, I saw an adult Bald eagle in flight, behind the Verdun Auditorium around  9:30, then moments later, a Merlin in flight, in front of the Verdun hospital

Ce matin, tout à fait par hasard et sans mes jumelles, j'ai pu voir un Pygargue à tête blanche adulte en vol derrière l'auditorium de Verdun vers 9h30, puis quelques instants plus tard un Faucon émerillon en vol devant l'hôpital de Verdun. - Pierre Bannon

North Hatley: This morning about 9: 00 a.m. I was on the small bridge at the village of North Hatley when an adult Bald eagle passed about fifty feet in the air above me

Mirabel, chemin Ste-Marie: 1 Lapland Longspur, 3 gray partridge, 2 Snowy Owls

1 Bruant lapon, 3 Perdrix grises, 2 Harfangs des neiges

Lachute: There is a landfill site in Lachute on chemin des Sources that I do not have permissions to enter. However, I watched from the periphery (there were 800 gulls were resting in a field south of the dump). I was able to see the comings and goings in the dump without having set foot in it. The place looks great (though odorous).

4 Bald eagles (3 adults and one subadult), 2 Red-tailed Hawks, 50 Ravens, 200 American Crows, 500 starlings, 800 Great Black-backed Gulls, 600 Herring Gulls, 35 Glaucous Gulls, 12 Iceland Gulls

I also noticed about 125 Horned Larks in Lachute, most south the dump in a pile of manure.

Il y a un site d'enfouissement à Lachute sur le chemin des Sources et je n'ai pas eu la permission pour rentrer. J'ai néanmoins observer en périphérie (il y avait 800 goélands au repos dans un champ au sud du dépotoir). J'ai ainsi pu voir le va-et-vient dans le dépotoir sans avoir les deux pieds dedans. L'endroit a l'air fameux (bien qu'odorant).



4 Pygargues à tête blanche (3 adultes et un subadulte I), 2 Buses à queue rousse, 50 Grands Corbeaux, 200 Corneilles d'Amérique, 500 étourneaux, 800 Goélands marins, 600 Goélands argentés, 35 Goélands bourgmestres, 12 Goélands arctiques

J'ai aussi noté environ 125 Alouettes hausse-col à Lachute, la majorité au sud du dépotoir dans un tas de fumier.
St-Eustache: parc Godard, at the end of rue Cousineau, a Wood duck with 70 Mallards and Black ducks in a narrow stream that does not freeze.

Victoriaville: Late in the afternoon I saw 3 Lapland longspurs at réservoir Beaudet, they were accompanied by several Snow Buntings that came to feed on cracked corn that I spread beside the lake
 
En fin d'après-midi j'ai observé 3 Bruants lapons au réservoir Beaudet, ils étaient en compagnie de plusieurs Bruants des neiges qui viennent s'alimenter de maïs concassé que je répand en bordure du lac. - Claude Roy
