Bird Protection Quebec field trip report, Saturday January 28

25 eager BPQ birders participated in an Urban Birdwatching field trip at the Technoparc in St-Laurent on Saturday morning. Mild temperatures and light winds fortunately made for a very pleasant morning as we did a substantial amount of walking through the Technoparc. We thank Joel Coutu who guided us through the elaborate network of trails in the area. The target birds of the day were two owl species; the Long-eared Owl and the Great Gray Owl. The group, as a whole, was rewarded with the Long-eared Owl on the grounds of the adjacent golf course. A small number of our group remained longer into the early afternoon and were rewarded with looks at not one but two Great Gray Owls, also on the grounds of the golf course. Thanks to BPQ members Chuck Kling and Anthony Joseph for their help in pinning down the location of the owls.
