Missing Merlin

I spent the day at the Biosphere representing Environment Canada's migratory bird division. A few hardy souls showed up (including a few intrepid BPQers), but one of the most important visitors disappeared shortly after arriving: UQROP's rehabilitated Merlin got spooked and broke free from its jesses. It is a captive-raised bird and will not likely do very well in the wild, so it's critical that we do everything we can to find it. The bird's trainer scoured the park and the Biosphere's team broadcasted Merlin calls for hours to no avail. I thought it might be a good idea to ask anyone in the area to keep their eyes peeled for a Merlin flying around with jesses still attached. If you see such a bird, please email and I'll send it on to the trainer at UQROP.

Thanks so much,

Marie-Anne Hudson
