quai de Rivière-Ouelle (dock) The river is calm, and numerous birds are on the move. Two and a half hours (6:00 to 8:30) of observation:
Red-throated Loon 175 (Many laid off shore, and many more flying farther offshore, all to the west.)
double-crested cormorant ... 40 (a few small groups flying to the east.)
Brant ... 42 (in one group. swimming and feeding in a line algae off-shore)
Canada Goose ... 6 (one on the water near the shore, a small group in flight west.)
Black ducks ... 65 (several small groups flying east)
Mallard ... 20 (couples or small groups, often with Black ducks)
Northern Pintails ... 70 (In two good flocks, flying eastward.)
Redhead ... 4 (A small group of 4 males in flight West not far ahead of the dock.)
Ring-necked duck ... 10 (couples or small groups flying to the east.)
Greater Scaup ... 6 (a couple, and isolated males in flight to the east.)
Lesser Scaup ... 9 (pairs or small groups flying to the east.)
Common Eider ... 45 (a few small groups flying to the east.)
Black Scoter ... 350 (some small rafts offshore. Very many, nearly all flying west).
Surf Scoter ... 1 (a single male in flight to the east).
Common Goldeneye ... 90 (Many couples or small groups in flight east).
Common Merganser ... 45 (couples or small groups flying to the east).
Red-breasted Merganser ... 15 (pairs or small groups in both directions).
Ring-Billed Gull ... 320 (in the lines of algae or flight to the east).
Herring Gull ... 20
Iceland Gull ... 8
Great black-backedGull ... 12
Razorbill ... 15 (a few small groups of 3 or 4 ind. flying to the west).
Tree Swallow ... 1 (like the others, off shore, flying to west ...).

Plongeon catmarin ...175 (Plusieurs posés au large du quai, Très nombreux en vol plus au large, tous vers l'ouest.)
Cormoran à aigrettes ...40 (quelques petits groupes en vol vers l'est.)
Bernache cravant ...42 (en un seul groupe. Nagent et se nourrissent dans une ligne d'algues au large.)
Bernache du Canada ...6 (une à l'eau près du rivage plus un petit groupe en vol vers l'ouest.)
Canards noirs ...65 (plusieurs petits groupes en vol vers l'est)
Canards colvert ...20 (couples ou petits groupes, souvent avec les C. noirs.)
Canards pilets ...70 (En deux bons groupes, en vol vers l'est.)
Fuligule à tête rouge ...4 (Surprenants! Un petit groupe de 4 mâles en vol vers l'ouest pas très loin en avant du quai.)

Fuligule milouinan ...6 (un couple et des mâles isolés en vol vers l'est.)

Macreuse à bec jaune ...350 (quelques petits radeaux au large. Très nombreuses, presque toutes en vol vers l'ouest).
Macreuse à front blanc ...1 (un mâle seul en vol vers l'est).
Garrot à oeil d'or ...90 (Nombreux couples ou petits groupes en vol vers l'est).
Grand Harle ...45 (couples ou petits groupes en vol vers l'est).
Harle huppé ...15 (couples ou petits groupes dans les deux directions).
