Westmount
The weather was calm, clear. The snow is still melting, but some remains on paths where previous people (and dogs) walked, and there was mud. It goes without saying that the trees were bare or starting to bud. The best birding was on the south side of the woods. Lower down in Westmount a few magnolia trees have started to bloom.
We had 16 birders and 30 species including: (birds marked with * were counted after the walk)
Sharp-shinned Hawk 1, Ring-billed Gull 2, Rock Pigeon, *Northern Saw-whet Owl 1, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker 4, Downy Woodpecker 5, Hairy Woodpecker 1, Pileated Woodpecker 1, Blue-headed Vireo 1, Blue Jay 1, Black-capped Chickadee 10, Red-breasted Nuthatch 1, White-breasted Nuthatch 2, Brown Creeper 8*, Carolina Wren 1, Golden-crowned Kinglet 3, Ruby-crowned Kinglet 15, Hermit Thrush 8, American Robin 10, European Starling 10, Yellow-rumped Warbler 6, Chipping Sparrow 2, Fox Sparrow 6, Song Sparrow 1, White-throated Sparrow 6, Dark-eyed Junco 35, Northern Cardinal 1*, Evening Grosbeak 6
