Fall Warbler Walk Report, Wednesday September 16

This morning's BPQ's Fall Warbler Walk (#5 ) at l'Ile de la Visitation.

Well we didn't get to 18 species of warblers this morning (only 15), but this was by far the best 'fall migration' morning so far (63 species). I'll find out if this isn't a fall record (63) for the number of birds in the park.

Many species like the return of Kinglets (both species), Blue-headed Vireos, White-throated Sparrows also Tanager, Hummingbirds, 4 species of vireos, a Screech Owl, and a couple of Ravens, etc. were found throughout the park, which had 20+ birders everywhere.

As for the warblers, Tennessee (4+), Orange-crowned (1), Nashville (2), Northern Parula (3), Chestnut-sided (1), Magnolia (7+), Yellow-rumped (1), Black-throated Green (5+), Blackburnian (2), Palm (1), Bay-breasted (3+), Blackpoll (4), Redstart (3), Yellowthroat (1), Wilson's (2).

Now this day will no doubt be a hard act to follow tomorrow for my BPQ 'Fall Warbler Walk'.

Normally I rarely get two 'back to back' day like this, but should be able to get in the 10/50 range (10 warblers sp. & over 50 sp. of birds). Birds migrate.
I 'll be in the park (welcome center) around 7h15 for those arriving early to beat traffic.

Considering the day tomorrow, hotter than today, birds (warblers) will be actif early.

Today was fun & was fun meeting up with other BPQ members who I think also had a good time. - Joël Coutu
