Bird Protection Quebec "Field Trip" February 23

Lachute & Grenville area

We were 3, birding in the snow and the wind, but all in all enjoyed a beautiful winter morning in the northern area of Montreal and got a few good birds. Unfortunately, snow and rather strong winds did not allow us to find the great grey owl that was spotted close to Lachute yesterday as well as to fully enjoy the diversity of gulls surrounding the Saint-Colomban dump.

All in all, we spotted 23 species, to which we can add 1 Rough-legged hawk (Buse pattue) on the way in this morning as well as 2 Snowy owls (Harfangs des neiges) perched on polls along highway 50 on the way back to Montreal! - Frederic
