Comment participer: Vous pouvez participer de feux façons, soit en patrouillant un terrain ou en compilant vos observations à votre mangeoire.
Recensement sur le terrain: En tant que participant, vous serez assigné à une équipe déjà existante responsable d’une section du cercle de Montréal. Un observateur d’expérience dirige chaque équipe et s’assure de l’exactitude de la cueillette des données des espèces observées durant la journée. Tous les participants âgés de 18 ans et plus doivent payer une redevance de 5 $ pour participer. Ce montant sera collecté par le responsable du groupe le matin du recensement et sera remis à la société Études d’oiseaux Canada pour couvrir les frais du programme, dont le matériel fourni aux compilateurs, la production et la publication du rapport sommaire et la maintenance du site Web et de la banque de données. Les membres d’Études d’oiseaux Canada sont exempts de ces frais qui sont inclus dans leur cotisation annuelle.

Recensement aux mangeoires: Si vous avez des mangeoires que vous maintenez durant l’hiver et que vous demeurez à l’intérieur du cercle, vous pouvez participer au recensement en compilant les espèces et les nombres observés à vos mangeoires durant la journée du recensement. Il n’y a aucun coût de participation. Par contre, vous devez communiquer avec l’un de nos coordonnateurs afin de vous inscrire et de vous assurer que vous êtes bel et bien situé à l’intérieur du cercle. Rencontre sociale « après décompte » Une fois le recensement terminé, tous les participants sont invités à assister à la compilation des résultats au Club de Curling Montréal-Ouest (17, avenue Ainslie, Montréal-Ouest). La nourriture sera fournie gratuitement et un bar payable sera disponible pour les consommations. Les portes ouvrent à 16 h et la compilation débutera vers 17 h 30. How to get involved: You can contribute to the count in one of two ways, either as a field participant or a feeder-watcher.
Field participant: As a field participant, you will be assigned to one of several existing teams responsible for covering a designated territory within the count circle. An experienced birder leads each team and is responsible for ensuring that detailed records are kept of all species seen and counted throughout the day. There is a $5.00 fee for all field participants over the age of 18. This fee, which will be collected by your team leader on the day of the count, will be passed on to Bird Studies Canada to help fund the programme and to cover the costs of generating materials for compilers, for producing an annual CBC summary issue and for the maintenance of the CBC website and database. As part of their membership, Bird Studies Canada members are exempt from paying this fee.

Feeder watcher: If you maintain bird feeders at home and live within the count circle, you are invited to participate in the annual Christmas Bird Count by recording species seen at your feeders on the day of the count. Winter Finch Project Launched!
At the start of November 2011 MBO launched a Feeder Bird Study, an attempt to learn more about the local winter movements of common backyard bird species. In the first phase of the study, the focal species are American Goldfinch and House Finch; all individuals banded at MBO in winter receive a black band with a unique two-character code that can be read from a moderate distance with binoculars (or using the zoom on a digital camera).

Public participation is critical to the success of this project - with your help, we can document the areas frequented by particular individuals and explore whether patterns of movement differ by age or sex in the species we are studying. Spontaneous Late Autumn Field Trip
I usually hope for something special to appear in our local birding region for these spontaneous destination outings. The single bird attracting the attention of many birders, as you will have seen from Songsparrow and Ornitho-QC postings in the last few days, is a Greylag Goose at the Chambly Basin. Discussions seem to be leaning towards this being a wild bird as opposed to a possible escaped domestic. There have also been a few reports of a possible Great Cormorant at the same location
So, as a result, we will head off to a few popular South Shore birding locations on Saturday, including a stop at the Chambly Basin; a visit to the St-Basile-le-Grand composting site and a tour around Ile-Goyer in the Richelieu River. Time permitting we could include a stop on the Richelieu River in St-Luc to look for the Lesser Black-backed Gull.

MEETING TIME: 8 am
MEETING PLACE: Zellers Parking Lot, Place Portobello, Taschereau Blvd. just off the Taschereau Blvd. exit from the Champlain Bridge.
DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS: From Montreal, take the Champlain Bridge to Exit 8 (Taschereau Blvd.). Stay to the right on the exit then turn right on Taschereau Blvd. Zeller's will be immediately on your right.
ITINERARY: As reports have the best time for seeing the Greylag Goose being around the noon hour, we will depart from our meeting spot heading first to the composting site at St-Basile-le-Grand looking for hawks, possibly early snow buntings, etc. We will then travel along the Richelieu River to Ile-Goyer, where we will check out some wooded areas and a few very productive feeder spots. We will then head to Chambly, exploring the Chambly Basin from a number of different observation points, including the spot on ave. Richelieu where the Greylag has been appearing this week. Time permitting, and if there is interest, we can head along the Richelieu River again, towards St-Luc, where a Lesser Black-backed Gull is being seen regularly.
This will be predominantly a driving trip, including several stops along the route at observation spots. Feel free to bring along a lunch, as the trip should take us past the lunch hour, particularly seeing as chances of getting the Greylag seem to be best around the noon hour.
If you have any questions about the trip, please contact me by e-mail or by telephone at 450-462-1459. On the morning of the trip you can reach me on the cell at 514-637-2141. Dress warmly as we will be in open areas, much of the day along waterfront terrain and, as always on these types of trips, carpooling is a good idea. Cars can be safely left at the meeting spot should people want to double up with others there.

Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, Morgan Arboretum: I saw and heard the Red-bellied woodpecker (Pic à ventre roux) in the Arboretum this morning. It was in the usual location on the main trail corner west of the Larches. Also seen were Red and White-breasted nuthatches, Pileated woodpecker, Brown creeper and lots of Black-capped chickadees (sittelles à poitrine rouge et blanc , grand pic, grimpereau brun et beaucoup de mésanges à tête noire). - Barbara Macduff

Sightings for Tuesday November 15th
Sainte-Catherine: Today at 3:25 p.m., I saw a female Snowy owl (PHOTOS) sitting on a rock near the edge of the St. Lawrence River, at the height of the Recre-O-Parc de Ville Sainte-Catherine. His presence has led many ring-billed gulls to come flying over his head. On several occasions, I found the owl his eyes completely closed and seemed to be sleeping. When I left at 4:40 p.m. because of the darkness, the Snowy owl was still on his rock.
Having no idea how long this snowy owl will remain, and that it is not his final destination, I will tell you where it is possible to see in hoping it is still there tomorrow morning. So you have to go to the Recre-O-Parc in Ville Sainte-Catherine. Cross the lock and immediately after, a little on the right side, there is a staircase leading down to the river, at the bottom of the stairs, continue straight to reach the edge of the shore and looking in front, there is a series of rock and that's when I spotted the snowy owl.
Aujourd'hui à 15h25, j'ai vu un Harfang des neiges (Photos) femelle se poser sur un rocher près du bord du fleuve St-Laurent, à la hauteur du Récré-O-Parc de Ville Sainte-Catherine. Sa présence à amener plusieurs goélands à bec cerclé à venir voler au-dessus de sa tête. À plusieurs reprises, j'ai constaté que l'harfang fermait complètement ses yeux et semblait se reposer. Lorsque j'ai quitté à 16h40 à cause de la noirceur, l'harfang des neiges était toujours sur son rocher.
N'ayant aucune idée combien de temps cet harfang des neiges va rester sur son rocher et sachant que ce n'est pas sa destination finale, je vous indique l'emplacement ou il est possible de l'observer en espérant qu'il soit toujours là demain matin. Alors il faut se rendre au Récré-O-Parc de Ville Sainte-Catherine, traverser l'écluse et immédiatement après, un peu sur le côté droit, il y a un grand escalier qui descend au fleuve St-Laurent, arrivée au bas de l'escalier, il faut continuer en ligne droite pour arriver sur le bord de la rive et en regardant juste en face, il y a une série de rocher et c'est là que j'ai aperçu l'harfang des neiges. - Lucien Lemay

J'ai observée l'Oie cendrée de 15h50 à 16h30 au Bassin de Chambly aujourd'hui. Elle dormait sur une étroite pointe rocheuse à l'ouest de mon point d'observation sur la rue Richelieu quand je l'ai repérée. Voir le carte pour la localisation exacte de mon observation - François Grenon

St-Barthélemy: This afternoon from 13:30 to 15:30, my sister Louise and I went to St-Barthélemy. We were lucky because we saw 3 Snowy Owls. There was also 5 rough-legged hawks, a Red-tailed hawk and several hundred Snow Bunting.
Cet après-midi de 13h30 à 15h30, ma soeur Louise et moi sommes allées à St-Barthélemy. Nous avons été chanceuses car nous y avons observé 3 Harfangs des neiges. Il y avait aussi 5 Buses pattues, une Buse à queue rousse et plusieurs centaines de Plectrophanes des neiges. - Janine May

Cowansville: The White-eyed Vireo is still present in Jacques Bonnette of Cowansville. It was seen by many observers this morning between 11am and 1pm. It is almost always with a group of Black-capped Chickadee in the path between sumac and the feeder

Cowansville, parc Jacques Bonnette: White-eyed vireo (Viréo aux yeux blancs) - Jean-Pierre Santerre, Bertrand Hamel
To get to the park Jacques Bonnette, take exit 68 from Highway 10 towards Cowansville (Route 139). In Cowansville at the traffic light (intersection of 139 and 104) turn left onto rue de la Rivière and left on Bell (at McDonalds) continue on Bell after the Stop and then right on Normand to the end. Take the gravel entrance to the park and park near pumping station. It may be that there is a chain to prevent access to the park, it is therefore necessary to park before the chain or in the street but not to block the entrance. The trail is a loop, the bird was in the trail left (north) about 75 meters from the entrance near a good stand of sumac
Pour se rendre au parc Jacques Bonnette, prendre la sortie 68 de l'autoroute 10 direction Cowansville (route 139). Rendu à Cowansville au feu de circulation (intersection 139 et 104) tournez à gauche sur rue de la Rivière et à gauche de nouveau sur Bell (au McDo) continuez sur Bell après le Stop et ensuite à droite sur Normand jusqu'au bout. Prendre l'entrée de gravier du parc et stationnez près du bâtiment de pompage. Il se peut qu'il y ai une chaîne pour interdire l'accès au parc il faut donc se stationner avant la chaîne ou dans la rue mais ne pas bloquer l'entrée. Le sentier fait une boucle, l'oiseau était dans le sentier de gauche (nord) à environ 75 mètres de l'entrée près d'une bonne talle de vinaigrier

Chateauguay Refuge faunique Marguerite D'Youville: I had the pleasure of seeing a Pine warbler this morning at the entrance to park on Ile St-Bernard. The bird was in the bushes near the entrance, where the sparrows are that go to the feeder. In addition to this warbler and species typical of the island, I saw a flock of Snow Bunting flying over the marsh

L'oiseau se tenait dans les fourrés près de l'entrée, là où se tiennent les moineaux qui vont à la mangeoire. Montréal: This morning at nature park, Pointe-aux-Prairies (secteur marais) between 6h30 and 10h30am I made some interesting observations. The first one was near the 87th avenue and Gouin Boul. where hundreds of Common goldeneyes and among them was a beautiful male Barrow’s Goldeneye on a calm river (RDP) until hunter's gun shots were heard nearby and would spook the ducks and geese . Also on the river were a few Black Ducks, Mallards, a couple of Common Mergansers, and two Great Blue Herons.
In the park, there were American Wigeons, Gadwalls, and Green-winged Teals. Earlier this week no birds of prey were observed, but this morning was much better like a male Merlin, a female Northern Harrier, and a Great Horned Owl, who was being harassed by crows.
Among the smaller species, Brown Creepers, Tree Sparrows, Juncos, a White-winged Crossbill, Common Redpolls, and Pine Siskins.
Ce matin, à Pointe-aux-Prairies (secteur Marais) entre 6h30 et 10h30 j’ai fait quelques observations intéressantes (33+ espèces). Le premier était proche de la 87e avenue et Boul. Gouin des centaines de Garrots à œil d’or et parmi eux était un beau mâle Garrot d’Islande sur une rivière calme jusqu'à ce que des coups de feu à proximité énervais les canards et les bernaches. Également sur la rivière, quelques Canards noirs, Colverts, des Grands harles, et deux grands Hérons.
Dans le parc, il y avait des Canards d’Amérique, Chipeau, et Sarcelles d’hiver. Plus tôt cette semaine pas d'oiseaux de proie ont été observées, mais ce matin, c'était beaucoup mieux comme un mâle Faucon émerillion, un Busard Saint-Martin (femelle) et un Grand-duc, qui était harcelé par les corneilles.
Parmi les espèces plus petites, Grimpereau brun, Bruant Hudsonien, Juncos, un Bec-croisé bifascié, des Sizerin flammé et des Tarin des pins. - Joël Coutu

Portneuf-sur-Mer: At Lookout Point Fortin Cliff Swallow in adult plumage a Ruddy Duck among White-winged & Black scoters. I scanned the bank with the scope, and I was very fortunate to count four Snowy Owls. I had not seen Snowy owls in the region since 2008. On shorebird side, there were still a hundred Dunlin, 20 Sanderlings, 10 Black-bellied plover and 2 White-rumped Sandpipers. Waterfowl abounded with more than 4000 Common eiders and 2000 Long-tailed Ducks. More than 25 Red-throated Loons and many Razorbills also frequented the area
Portneuf-sur-mer: Au belvédère de la Pointe à Fortin, il y avait une Hirondelle à front blanc Érismature rousse Macreuses brunes et à bec jaune. J'ai scruté le banc à la lunette, et j'ai été bien heureux d'y dénombrer 4 Harfangs des neiges. Je n'avais pas vu d'harfangs dans la région depuis 2008. Côté limicoles, il restait encore une centaine de Bécasseaux variables, 20 Bécasseaux sanderlings, 10 Pluviers argentés et 2 Bécasseaux à croupion blanc. Les anatidés abondaient avec plus de 4000 eiders et 2000 Hareldes kakawis. Plus de 25 Plongeons catmarins et autant de Petits Pingouins fréquentaient également le secteur - Samuel Denault

Bergeronnes was rather quiet with a Wilson's Snipe on rang St-Joseph
Aux dunes à Tadoussac, une Mouette pygmée, un Sizerin blanchâtre, 2 Becs-croisés des sapins et une Mouette rieuse adulte.
À la pointe de l'Islet, à Tadoussac, il y avait toujours 350 Bécasseaux variables, 20 Bécasseaux à croupion blanc, 80 Pluviers argentés et un Bécasseau violet qui semble installé sur ses quartiers d'hiver.
À Bergeronnes, c'était plutôt tranquille avec une Bécassine de Wilson sur le rang St-Joseph - Samuel Denault

Laval: Hudsonian Godwit is still present on the beach, at the corner of 17th Avenue and Riviera, just east of the parking lot. I suggest you go in the morning because by afternoon the sun's position is not very favorable

Sightings for Tuesday November 8th
Boucherville, Île Charron: A female AUDUBON'S WARBLER in the company of a Black-capped Chickadee behind the Auberge des Gouverneurs on Île Charron this afternoon. The only notable difference is pale yellow throat and maybe a slight difference in the contact call of our local race.

Montréal, L'Ile-Ste-Hélène: The female Black scoter and Red-breasted merganser were still present near the lighthouse this morning and a Red-necked Grebe was swimming near the Cosmos boardwalk not far from the Biosphere

Tadoussac: The movement of Redpolls continued today. I counted 5762 Common Redpolls at the dunes of Tadoussac on their way to the the northeast. Among the many redpolls who stopped to feed in birch and alder, I spotted at least eight Hoary redpoll. The fall 2011 is the best season in redpolls and siskins at the dunes since systematically compiling data on passerines. Nous have passed 30 000 counted siskins and 35 000 redpolls for the season, and there are still 18 days left of visual surveys.
In addition, shorebirds continue to be present in good numbers at high tide at the pointe de l'Islet in Tadoussac, despite the late date and fact that it is not traditionally an excellent site for shorebirds. This afternoon, I saw: 650 Dunlins, 120 White--rumped sandpipers, 100 Black-bellied plovers, 1 Sanderling, -1 Purple Sandpiper (my first season).
Le mouvement de sizerins a continué aujourd'hui. J'ai pu dénombré 5762 Sizerins flammés aux dunes de Tadoussac en déplacement vers le nord-est. Parmi les nombreux sizerins qui s'arrêtaient pour s'alimenter dans les bouleaux et les aulnes, j'ai pu repéré au moins 8 Sizerins blanchâtres. L'automne 2011 constitue la meilleure saison à sizerins et à tarins aux dunes depuis que des données sur les passereaux sont compilées systématiquement. Nous avons franchi le cap des 30 000 tarins dénombrés et celui des 35 000 sizerins pour la saison et il reste encore 18 jours de relevés visuels.
Par ailleurs, les limicoles continuent d'être présent en bons nombre à marée haute à la pointe de l'Islet à Tadoussac et ce, malgré la date tardive et le fait qu'il ne s'agisse traditionnellement pas d'un excellent site pour les limicoles. Cet après-midi, j'ai pu y voir: 650 Bécasseaux variables, 120 Bécasseaux à croupion blanc, 100 Pluviers argentés, 1 Bécasseau sanderling, 1 Bécasseau violet (enfin, mon premier de la saison) - Samuel Denault

Tadoussac: The movement of Redpolls continued today. I counted 5762 Common Redpolls at the dunes of Tadoussac on their way to the the northeast. Among the many redpolls who stopped to feed in birch and alder, I spotted at least eight Hoary redpoll. The fall 2011 is the best season in redpolls and siskins at the dunes since systematically compiling data on passerines. Nous have passed 30 000 counted siskins and 35 000 redpolls for the season, and there are still 18 days left of visual surveys.
In addition, shorebirds continue to be present in good numbers at high tide at the pointe de l'Islet in Tadoussac, despite the late date and fact that it is not traditionally an excellent site for shorebirds. This afternoon, I saw: 650 Dunlins, 120 White--rumped sandpipers, 100 Black-bellied plovers, 1 Sanderling, -1 Purple Sandpiper (my first season).
Le mouvement de sizerins a continué aujourd'hui. J'ai pu dénombré 5762 Sizerins flammés aux dunes de Tadoussac en déplacement vers le nord-est. Parmi les nombreux sizerins qui s'arrêtaient pour s'alimenter dans les bouleaux et les aulnes, j'ai pu repéré au moins 8 Sizerins blanchâtres. L'automne 2011 constitue la meilleure saison à sizerins et à tarins aux dunes depuis que des données sur les passereaux sont compilées systématiquement. Nous avons franchi le cap des 30 000 tarins dénombrés et celui des 35 000 sizerins pour la saison et il reste encore 18 jours de relevés visuels.
Par ailleurs, les limicoles continuent d'être présent en bons nombre à marée haute à la pointe de l'Islet à Tadoussac et ce, malgré la date tardive et le fait qu'il ne s'agisse traditionnellement pas d'un excellent site pour les limicoles. Cet après-midi, j'ai pu y voir: 650 Bécasseaux variables, 120 Bécasseaux à croupion blanc, 100 Pluviers argentés, 1 Bécasseau sanderling, 1 Bécasseau violet (enfin, mon premier de la saison) - Samuel Denault

Cap Tourmente: A quick visit to Cap Tourmente this morning, allowed Fanny Senez-Gagnon and I to see a Short-eared Owl. The bird was in the grass on the Le Carouge trail and then flew towards Lac Tourmente.

Berthierville: Prelude to a better winter than last year? A female Snowy owl was sitting on the ground in the region of Berthier. One hundred Snow Buntings were also seen, flying sometimes. An adult bald eagle flew slowly flew over the ponds of Ducks Unlimited above 'île Dupas. Consequently, hundreds and hundreds of dabbling ducks otherwise invisible, filled the skies. Above the municipal landfill we think we saw a Red-tailed Hawk albino. No trace in his dark immaculate plumage. When she came towards us, we at first believed it was a white Gryfalcon, but the silhouette, the beak and the type of flight did not match. Other species interesting there were an American pipit, 1 White-rumped Sandpiper, 5 Rusty Blackbirds, 4 Rough-legged hawks, 8 Red-tailed Hawks, 1 Northern harrier, an Immature Northern Shrike and 250 + Brown-headed cowbirds, the latter out of the landfill.

Une centaine de Bruants des neiges l'avaient aussi repéré et l'ont survolé pendant quelques instants. Un pygargue adulte a lentement survolé les étangs de canards illimités au-dessus de l'île Dupas. Conséquence, des centaines et des centaines de canards barboteurs, autrement invisibles, ont rempli les cieux. Au-dessus du dépotoir municipal nous pensons avoir observé une Buse à queue rousse albinos. Aucune trace sombre dans son plumage immaculé. Quand elle venait vers nous nous avons d'abord cru à un gerfaut blanc, mais la silhouette, le bec et le type de vol ne correspondaient pas. Parmi les autres espèces intéressantes il y avait un pipit, un Bécasseau à croupion blanc, 5 Quiscales rouilleux, 4 Buses pattue, 8 Buses à queue rousse, un busard St-Martin, une Pie-grièche grise immature et 250+ vachers, ces derniers à même le dépotoir. - Yves Gauthier

On a beautiful but cool Saturday 11 birders came. We had a visitor from Newfoundland-Labrador and another from Massachusetts, two very good birders. With a lot of work we managed to find 25 species.

Sightings for Saturday November 5th
Tadoussac: This morning, around 11:00, I saw two young Cliff Swallow headed north-east at the Tadoussac dunes. Pale buff rump and throat dark eliminate the Cave Swallow that might be expect to see at that time. I also got a jolt of Pine Siskin whose presence was very low for three weeks. As many as 2340 indivduals moving to the north-east in the morning. "Only" 1326 Common Redpolls were seen today and they all went off to the southwest. Difficult explain why some finches go to the southwest one-day and choose the northeast another day.
Ce matin, vers 11h00, j'ai pu voir 2 jeunes Hirondelles à front blanc se diriger vers le nord-est aux dunes à Tadoussac. Le croupion très pâle chamois et la gorge foncée éliminent l'Hirondelle à front brun qu'on pourrait s'attendre à voir à cette date. Sinon, j'ai aussi eu droit à un soubresaut de Tarins des pins dont la présence était plus faible depuis 3 semaines. Pas moins de 2340 individus ont défilé vers le nord-est pendant la matinée. "Seulement" 1326 Sizerins flammés ont été vus aujourd'hui et ceux-ci s'en allaient tous vers le sud-ouest. Difficile d'expliquer pourquoi certains fringillidés vont vers le sud-ouest une journée et choisissent le nord-est une autre journée. - Samuel Denault

The Golden-Winged Warbler, a rare and threatened bird: Le Duing Lang
The Golden-Winged Warbler is a threatened species. Since 2008, QuébecOiseaux has been working with volunteers and biologists in order to detect the presence of the species in the Montérégie region. Le Duing Lang will present the Golden-Winged Warbler, the threats to the species, the hybridization of the species with the Blue-Winged Warbler, the detection project in private lands, the genetic analyses as well as the banding of the warblers found in the area.
Le Duing did her Master's degree in Biology at the Université de Montréal. She has been working for QuébecOiseaux since 2007. She is responsible for projects concerning endangered species such as the Golden-Winged Warbler and the Chimney Swift. She also participates in the restoration of the Sainte-Martine Dam, an important site for the observation of shorebirds.

plus ... 300 artistes (voir la liste), dont certains d’horizons aussi lointains que l'Île de Vancouver, ont créé près de 700 œuvres d’art de format 5 x 7 pour la vente Wildcard.
Pour la deuxième année de suite un groupe local de bénévoles qui se consacrent à la réhabilitation des oiseaux sauvages et toute une volée d’artistes ont fait équipe pour une levée de fonds originale qui plaira aussi bien aux amoureux de l’art que de la nature. Chaque œuvre donnée sera vendue 65$, mais le suspense réside dans le fait que les acheteurs n’apprendront l’identité de l’artiste qu’après avoir acheté l’œuvre.
L’année dernière le marché d’art Wildcard a créé tout un émoi parmi les collectionneurs. Cette année encore le public courra la chance d’acheter des œuvres d’artistes aussi divers queLouise Tanguay, Myles Goodwyn d’April Wine, Jacques Léveillé RCA, Brigitte Radecki et Claude Tousignant RCA et d’artistes locaux Richard Caplette et Edyth Généreux. Pour seulement 65 $ il se pourrait que vous partiez avec l’œuvre d’un artiste de renommée internationale, membre de la prestigieuse Académie royale des arts du Canada ou que vous découvriez un nouveau talent local. L’encan silencieux qui l’accompagne présentera aussi des artistes tels que Robert Bateman, Danielle Scheffer et Marcel Braitstein RCA.
Robert Bateman a été important dans le processus de collecte de fonds : « J’ai suivi et soutenu le travail du Nichoir presque depuis ses débuts, il y a plus de 17 ans, et je suis très heureux de voir que, par le biais du projet Wildcard, des artistes de tout le Canada se rassemblent afin d’appuyer ses efforts pour construire un nouveau centre de conservation d’oiseaux sauvages à Hudson. »
L’événement Wildcard 2011 est organisé au bénéfice du Nichoir centre de réhabilitation pour oiseaux sauvages.

For the second year in a row a local group of dedicated wild bird rehabilitation volunteers and a bevy of visual artists have teamed up for an innovative fundraiser sure to please art lovers and nature lovers, alike. Each of the donated works are sold for $65 but the intrigue lies in the fact that purchasers only learn the artist’s identity after the sale is done.
Last year’s Wildcard Art Market created quite a buzz amongst art collectors. This year the public have the chance to purchase works from artists as diverse as Linda Rutenberg, Myles Goodwyn of April Wine, Melinda Brewer, Brigitte Radecki, G. Scott MacLeod and Gathie Falk RCA as well as local artists Martha Markowski and Edyth Généreux.For only $65 you can walk away with a work from an internationally renowned artist, member of the prestigious Royal Canadian Academy of Arts or discover some exciting new local talent. The accompanying silent auction will also feature works from artists such asRobert Bateman,
Danielle Scheffer, Bill Vazan RCA and Marcel Braitstein RCA. plus ... 300 artistes (voir la liste), dont certains d’horizons aussi lointains que l'Île de Vancouver, ont créé près de 700 œuvres d’art de format 5 x 7 pour la vente Wildcard.
Pour la deuxième année de suite un groupe local de bénévoles qui se consacrent à la réhabilitation des oiseaux sauvages et toute une volée d’artistes ont fait équipe pour une levée de fonds originale qui plaira aussi bien aux amoureux de l’art que de la nature. Chaque œuvre donnée sera vendue 65$, mais le suspense réside dans le fait que les acheteurs n’apprendront l’identité de l’artiste qu’après avoir acheté l’œuvre.
L’année dernière le marché d’art Wildcard a créé tout un émoi parmi les collectionneurs. Cette année encore le public courra la chance d’acheter des œuvres d’artistes aussi divers queLouise Tanguay, Myles Goodwyn d’April Wine, Jacques Léveillé RCA, Brigitte Radecki et Claude Tousignant RCA et d’artistes locaux Richard Caplette et Edyth Généreux. Pour seulement 65 $ il se pourrait que vous partiez avec l’œuvre d’un artiste de renommée internationale, membre de la prestigieuse Académie royale des arts du Canada ou que vous découvriez un nouveau talent local. L’encan silencieux qui l’accompagne présentera aussi des artistes tels que Robert Bateman, Danielle Scheffer et Marcel Braitstein RCA.
Robert Bateman a été important dans le processus de collecte de fonds : « J’ai suivi et soutenu le travail du Nichoir presque depuis ses débuts, il y a plus de 17 ans, et je suis très heureux de voir que, par le biais du projet Wildcard, des artistes de tout le Canada se rassemblent afin d’appuyer ses efforts pour construire un nouveau centre de conservation d’oiseaux sauvages à Hudson. »
L’événement Wildcard 2011 est organisé au bénéfice du Nichoir centre de réhabilitation pour oiseaux sauvages.

La vente Wildcard se tiendra le 19 novembre au centre sportif du Collège Sainte-Anne, 1250 boulevard Saint-Joseph, Lachine, Québec.
Les portes ouvriront à 16h. Le tirage au sort pour la première place dans la file d’attente, l’encan silencieux et le service de bar auront lieu à 17h.
Toutes les œuvres sont au prix de 65 $.
Les billets réguliers sont à 40 $

More than 300 artists (see the list) from as far away as Vancouver Island have creatednearly 700 5 x 7 works for the Wildcard Art Market.
For the second year in a row a local group of dedicated wild bird rehabilitation volunteers and a bevy of visual artists have teamed up for an innovative fundraiser sure to please art lovers and nature lovers, alike. Each of the donated works are sold for $65 but the intrigue lies in the fact that purchasers only learn the artist’s identity after the sale is done.
Last year’s Wildcard Art Market created quite a buzz amongst art collectors. This year the public have the chance to purchase works from artists as diverse as Linda Rutenberg, Myles Goodwyn of April Wine, Melinda Brewer, Brigitte Radecki, G. Scott MacLeod and Gathie Falk RCA as well as local artists Martha Markowski and Edyth Généreux.For only $65 you can walk away with a work from an internationally renowned artist, member of the prestigious Royal Canadian Academy of Arts or discover some exciting new local talent. The accompanying silent auction will also feature works from artists such asRobert Bateman,
Danielle Scheffer, Bill Vazan RCA and Marcel Braitstein RCA. Bateman has been instrumental in the fundraising process, adding that "I have followed and supported the work of Le Nichoir almost from its beginnings over 17 years ago and I'm very pleased to see how artists from across Canada have come together through the Wildcard project to support Le Nichoir in its efforts to build a new wild bird conservation centre in Hudson."

Sightings for Friday Novemebr 4th
Tadoussac: Today I had one of the best days in my life for finches the dunes at Tadoussac. Here are the totals for each species: Pine Grosbeak 454, Purple Finch 660 (best day in my life for this species), Red-Crossbill 4 (a few rare individuals moving since early November), White-winged Crossbill 1073 (finally, first a big day for this species which is consistent with a good seed year), Common Redpoll 5450 (best day this season and one of the best for the OOT), Pine Siskin: 122 (many more in early October, that at this time), Goldfinch 32, Evening Grosbeak 27, +120 waxwings
A late Belted kingfisher was also present and some rare migrating raptors, including 5 Bald Eagles and 3 Northern goshawks.
Aujourd'hui, j'ai eu une de mes meilleures journées à vie pour les fringillidés aux dunes à Tadoussac. Voici les totaux pour chaque espèce: Durbec des sapins: 454, Roselin pourpré: 660, (ma meilleure journée à vie pour cette espèce) Bec-croisé des sapins: 4 (quelques rares individus se déplacent depuis début novembre) , Bec-croisé bifascié: 1073 (enfin, une première grosse journée pour cette espèce ce qui est cohérent avec la bonne année semencière), Sizerin flammé: 5450 (meilleure journée cette saison et une des meilleures pour l'OOT), Tarin des pins: 122 (beaucoup plus présent au début octobre qu'en ce moment), Chardonneret jaune: 32, Gros-bec errant: 27, +120 Jaseurs boréaux

Boucherville, Île Charron: This morning to Île Charron, a peregrine falcon hunting of European starlings to the entrance at the island. In the waters off the long and thin île Verte, a group of 22 Black Scoters, 2 Horned Grebe, and a Long-tailed duck visible. A Hermit Thrush accompanied a small group of passerines further inland, on the island. The species that surprised me most was the 11 White-winged Crossbill, They were at the top of the poplars behind the auberge des Gouverneurs (Inn).

Cet avant-midi à l'île Charron, un Faucon pèlerin chassait de l'étourneau à l'entrée de l'île. Dans les eaux, au large de la longue et mince île Verte, un groupe de 22 Macreuses noire, 2 Grèbes esclavon et un kakawi étaient visibles. Une Grive solitaire accompagnait un petit groupe de passereaux plus à l'intérieur de l'île. L'espèce qui m'a le plus surpris fut le 11 Bec-croisé bifascié. Ils étaient dans le haut des peupliers derrière l'auberge des Gouverneurs.
Au boisé Langevin, on a un peu senti le contrecoup de la vague de fringillidés mentionnée par Samuel Denault à Tadoussac. Une joyeuse bande de plus de 50 tarins des pins s'y trouvait, ainsi que 22 Bec-croisé bifascié, 2 Roselins pourpré, un Sizerin flammé et un Chardonneret jaune. Dans l'étang on pouvait y voir quelques Colverts, 5 chipeaux, 5 Sarcelles d'hiver, un Fuligule à collier, 2 Grèbes à bec bigarré, 2 foulques et une poule d'eau. En bordure du fleuve, sous le premier pylône, un timide et rampant Bruant des neiges m'a fait sursauter quand il s'est envolé à mes pieds. Loin au-dessus de l'île aux Fermiers, un Busard Saint-Martin affrontait les forts vents du nord-ouest, tandis qu'une Buse pattue préférait y faire face à partir de son perchoir, le sommet d'une grande balise de navigation.- Yves Gauthier

Parking: $7.00. Half day.

Continuer sur Gouin sur une distance de 1,9 km jusqu'au panneau bleu indiquant l'entrée du Parc-Nature de la Pointe-aux-Prairies. Le stationnement est situé au Pavillon des marais, 12 300 boulevard Gouin Est. Frais de stationnement : 7,00 $. Demi-journée.

Victoriaville: Shortly after sunset réservoir Beaudet the tank, I an adult Ross's Goose, I would have liked to have seen it 30 minutes before to take a picture. Earlier a juvenile was seen at the reservoir, and this morning an adult, at étang Burbank in Danville.
un peu après le coucher du soleil au réservoir Beaudet, j'ai aperçu cette Oie de Ross adulte, j'aurais aimé l'apercevoir 30 minutes auparavant pour la photo. Un peu plus tôt une juvénile observée au réservoir et en matinée à l'étang Burbank de Danville une adulte. - Claude Roy
