Mascouche, chemin de la Cabane ronde: near the abandonned house (près de la maison en ruine)

I finally saw my first Great Gray Owl (Chouette lapone) since moving to Canada. It took me 9 attempts, at 2 different sites, over 2 winters, but the planets aligned today. I spent 1 1/2 hours searching Chemin de la Cabane Ronde in Mascouche and was on my last lap before planning to go home grumpy, when there it was roosting in the fields behind the abandoned house between #900 and #950. It was actively hunting and I saw it make 3 attempts on prey, all of which failed. A pretty amazing bird and a highlight of the winter for me (so far, as I'm still waiting for Boreal and Northern Hawk Owl...) - Cheers, Andy
