Bird Protection Quebec's Field Trip Report for Saturday January 10th

Montreal Botanical Gardens
A cold morning of -18 degrees did not deter 10 birders who showed up for the Montreal Botanical Gardens field trip. 18 species were seen. Luckily there was no wind and the late-morning sun made the walk very pleasant.

Here is a list of the birds seen and their totals: Ring-billed Gull (Goéland à bec cerclé) 3, Rock Dove (Pigeon biset) 12, American Crow (Corneille d'Amérique) 12, European Starling (Étourneaux sansonnets) 15, Downy Woodpecker (Pic mineur) 1, Hairy Woodpecker (Pic chevelu) 1, Black-capped Chickadee (Mésange à tête noire) 30, White-breasted Nuthatch (Sittelle à poitrine blanche) 2, Red-breasted Nuthatch (Sittelle à poitrine rousse) 2, American Robin (Merle d'Amérique) 3, Dark-eyed Junco (Junco ardoisé) 10, Northern Cardinal (Cardinal rouge) 6, Pine Grosbeak (Durbec des sapins) 6, White-winged Crossbill (Bec-croisé bifascié) 12, House Finch (Roselin familier) 1, Pine Siskin (Tarins des pins) 2 American Goldfinch (Chardonnerets jaunes) 15, HouseSparrow 30 (Moineau domestique).
