Montreal, Mont-Royal Cemetery
This afternoon a Cooper's Hawk (Épervier de Cooper) was sitting on the old Red-shouldered hawk's (Buse à épaulettes) nest in Mont Royal cemetery. The nest looked like it had been renovated - built up much higher. The bird was sitting much higher on the pile of sticks than the red-shouldered ever did and was quite easy to see.
At the top of Mount Murray,we also saw a Golden-crowned kinglet (Roitelet à couronne dorée), a Red-shouldered hawk (Buse à épaulettes), and a Northern flicker (Pic flamboyant). We also saw and heard a Merlin (Faucon émerillon) which was sitting at the top of the pines around the Allen family memorial.
At feeder in the backyard of a house facing the mountain (as seen from the alley) at the top of Outremont were a Pine siskin (Tarin des pins) and a Common redpoll (Sizerin flammé) in large mixed flock the regular early spring suspects - Chris
