Bird Protection Quebec's Field Trip Report for Saturday November 8th

Ste-Martine - St-Etienne marsh - St-Louis-de-Gonzage pond - St-Thimothee marsh. 08/11/08 8:00 -11:45

Fog turning to rain + fog. 8 obs. 23 sp. Due to the fog only vague numbers possible. Thousands of Snow Geese and Canada Geese, 4? Cackling Geese, a few Wood Duck, Black duck, 30 Mallard, a few Green-winged Teal, many Ring-necked duck, Scaup, 1 Common Merganser, Hooded mergansers, 2 Pied-billed Grebe, dozens of Ringbill gulls, 2 Great Black-backed gulls, 24 Rock Pigeon, 1 Snowy Owl, 1 Belted Kingfisher, Crows, 1 Black-capped Chickadee, 1 American Robin, a few Starlings, 8 Snow Bunting, maybe 30 Red-winged Blackbirds.

Bird of the day: undoubtedly the juv. Snowy Owl sitting on a telegraph pole over our heads and then flying to the next pole - Helix Hilton
