Bird Protection Quebec's Field Trip Report - August 23rd

Chateauguay

16 birders and 2,000,000 mosquitoes took part in today’s field trip at Refuge Faunique Marguerite d'Youville on Île St-Bernard in Châteauguay. Temperature 23C and 7km/h south winds. Thankfully the mosquitoes dissipated as the temperature rose.

Total species count was 60. Bird of the day was an immature bald eagle. This may be the same eagle spotted at various times in the past month. Another bird of note was the blue-gray gnatcatcher seen by Jacques & Mark.

After the field trip we were treated to a photo exhibition by Francis Bossé in the welcome centre. Francis won our Big Year Birding photo competition last year.

Thank you for all who participated in today’s field trip and made it such an enjoyable day.
