Chateauguay, refuge faunique Marguerite-D'Youville: Sharon and I went to Île St-Bernard this morning from 7:30 to 12:30. It was a little chilly at 4C especially satnding near the water, but there was more there today than last Wednesday when we were there.
Here is the list of 41 species we found: 50 Canada Geese, 50 Mallard, 6 Common Goldeneye, 3 RED-BREASTED MERGANSER, 1 Pied-billed Grebe, 2 Double-crested Cormorant, 4 Great Blue Heron, 15 GREAT EGRET, 21 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, 5 SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, 3 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER, 4 PECTORAL SANDPIPER, 50 DUNLIN, 2 WILSON'S SNIPE, 35 Ring-billed Gulls, 6 Great Black-backed Gulls, 6 Rock Pigeon, 6 Mourning Doves, 1 Belted Kingfisher, 1 RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER, 2 Downy Woodpeckers, 1 Hairy Woodpecker, 4 Blue Jays, 50 American Crows, 1 Common Raven, 23 Black-capped Chickadees, 16 White-breasted Nuthatchs, 1 MARSH WREN, 3 HERMIT THRUSHS, 65 American Robins, 40 European Starling, 1 Yellow-rumped Warbler, 2 AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS, 6 Song Sparrows, 16 White-throated Sparrow, 5 White-crowned Sparrows, 12 Dark-eyed Juncos, 2 SNOW BUNTINGS, 100 Red-winged Blackbirds, 1 RUSTY BLACKBIRD, 5 Common Grackle.
We also met someone from the Songsparrow Newsgroup, Marco, a photographer, who saw a Norther Harrier, Cedar waxwings and Wood ducks - T. Long

On the lake, Canada geese (bernaches du Canada), Snow geese (oies des neiges), Wood ducks (canards branchus), American wigeon (canards d'Amérique), Ring-necked ducks (fuligules à collier), Lesser scaup (petits et milouinans), Bufflehead (petits garrots), American coots (foulques d'Amérique). 17 Pied-billed grebes (grèbes à bec bigarré).
