Sightings for October 20th

Montreal,
I visited parc-nature de la Pointe-aux-prairies again this morning,from 8h00 to 11h00. There was much less activity (29 species found)than last weekend (45 species found), due to the wind I hope.Nonetheless, I have had again a Pine Siskin and finally a BohemianWaxwing and a Rusty Blackbird. The Bohemian Waxwing was found on a bare tree, with two obviously smaller and slender juvenile CedarWaxwings. The colourful head standing out and the rufous undertail coverts of the Bohemian were readily visible, despite poor light.After a while the three of them flew off together. The male Rusty Blackbird was standing all alone at the top of a bare tree along apond. But I suspect that a mute flock of about ten Blackbirds flyingover earlier in the morning was also made up of that same species. The Pine Siskin, second sighting this fall for me on this site, was heard and seen while flying over. Also seen: one single Yellow-rumped Warbler, a few kinglets of both species, etc.By the way, the parking lot at the eastern end of the parc-nature(the one from which you can see Rivière-des-prairies) has been free of charge for at least the last two weeks, since there is nocollecting machine there anymore. - Diane Demers
